This video was tremendously helpful! Novice flower farmer here...8 acres in SE Wisconsin, Zone 5B... peonies grow like crazy in my climate and I just received an order of 120 peony roots... 12 different varieties, 10 each! I'm so excited to get them in the ground...and even more excited about the blooms in a few years!! All of your tips were super helpful...especially the one about extending life!! How amazing!

I sell peonies wholesale every spring in Michigan. Your tutorial regarding cutting secondary buds to divert energy back into the plant and the part about soil amendment was helpful to me. I also did not know about the tip to not harvest all the peonies on a bush, but to dead head some of them instead in order to also divert more energy into the plant. Lastly, I need to learn more about amending the soil with phosphorus as you mentioned too. Thank you!

Outstanding video, I learned a lot. I, too thought that ants helped the Peonies to open LOL. I think Yellow Peonies are my favorite. Your field is lovely. Cheers from Ottawa, Canada🍁

Of the ones you showed us, my favourite is Coral Charm. I have stored peonys in plastic bags in the fridge. No problems, I make sure they are quite dry before packing usually 10 in a bag. Our bloom time is June in Ontario. I needed some for a wedding shower in August. They opened up beautifully. It was a nice surprise for the bride. Loved your flower garden.

Very helpful video!
Peonies are the jewel of my garden so all this advice is great. I will take the care of my peonies up a few notches, esp with storing the blooms in the fridge. Most of my peonies are near the street so many people enjoy them and comment.
They do well here on the coast of Maine…some of them are over 80 years old.
Thank you!

Been growing peonies over 15 years. I love the blooms. Never occurred to me that I could extend the life of the flower. I'm grateful for this info. Mine began blooming early this year and I have enjoyed them inside. I'm adding to my garden this year and will definitely remove buds for the first few years. Thanks also for that info. Love your farm.

I harvested several last weekend as they were all just exploding with our burst of Colorado heatwave. I had a party yesterday I wanted to have them for. They were already opening and so I put them into a paper bag and refrigerator. When I pulled them out on Friday my heart sank as they were all wilted and looked ready for the compost pile. Just for the heck of it I put in a vase of water and like magic they emerged I think I was just lucky but so happy that they came back into their beauty

It’s all about the soil! I am so pleased to find you and learn so much about soil. You are such a wealth of information and I am so grateful to learn from you. I live in Australia, I’m about to start my flower farm, just secured my half acre! So excited! Not a big farm, just a hobby farm as I’m nearly 70! But I have to do this. Yes, should have done this years ago but you know, better late than ever! Peonies, Lisianthus and Ranunculus are my absolute favorites! I am going to grow a very diverse range of plants and flowers. Thank you so much!
