This book ignores Native Americans, Chinese Americans, Hispanic Americans, and the way in the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries that Irish Americans and Italian Americans and all immigrants from "the low countries" in Europe were also treated by the largely Protestant and Catholic (State of Maryland) hegemony in the United States. If you just look at New Orleans and the Creole system, there were many delineations, not a Bipolar one.
Wilkerson also says she was surprised to discover that the Nazis used Jim crow laws as a template for their own. Any college graduate knows this.
America's racism has NEVER been Bipolar.
This book ignores so much. Sad.

It's not about Oprah...its about Anglo Saxons always get more praise or and better treatment than any other color in U.S. If I were Anglo Saxon I would feel attacked too. Please don't feel offended. But ask is...could this have any validity...!?!?

I'm not even American nor am I black or white. But the mere fact that the author who happens to be black could speak out against the alleged "dominant class" negates her very proposition..

These comments are ridiculous but mainly from people who don’t read or think they know everything already...

I can’t wait to get my copy!

Actually, Sex and the City (Season 2) in an episode entitled ‘The Caste System’, kinda talked about a caste-driven American society. Hehe!

Caste is a graded slavery, still persists in an rigid form, easily anyone can see untouchables are underrepresented and compelled to live in extreme poverty, physically segregated despite they have earned money. Jai bheem
