One of my wonderful female friends asked me why I listen to a lot of sad songs. Sometimes, I don't even know they are, but she catches it. I tell her, it's because it makes me feel that I'm still human and it at least makes me feel something. Been single for a long time. Actually really my whole life. Had a few girls here and there but it never really worked out. I realize that although all these songs are great emotional songs, for me I feel like it has kept me stuck in a loop. Always feeling some type of way, whether it be gloomy, sad or reminiscing of past loves. Hell, sometimes I'd imagine how it would feel, to have the same feels a certain song displays for someone that's not even there, just to feel something. . I feel that I'm not giving myself permission to be happy and do what I want to do, when I'm here listening to these great emotional songs. I realize, it's time for me to step out of these genre and tunes for awhile. It's like a fight against myself, trying to discover my true potential and happiness. Just wanted to randomly vent, since it's such a great community here. Happy holidays y'all and 2017 will be a rocking new year!

One of the things I love most about this song is the way that the lyrics are so ambiguous that they will resonate differently to each and every person, and the same can be said for its melodic sound. I’ve listened to this track probably every single day for at least 6 months, and it’s been a sad song, a love song, an inspirational song, a reflection, revelation.. depending on what’s happening in that present moment in my life. Who can’t relate to not needing “this” like you used to? Who hasn’t been “blinded” by someone or something? It can just be taken in SO many different ways. I’ve never seen a video for it until now and I’m IN AWE of how beautifully it captured the song!! For me, I have been them both in so many relationships. The times that I knew it was over, embracing those final moments. From the times I’ve been so enamored that I looked past the wrongdoings. The times you wish the person could change, or love you the way that you need. The times you wish you didn’t care so much, the times you genuinely don’t care at all, The times that you just want to be let in. The times that you just want to let go. The times that you love that person… knowing you’re not truly in love. What could have happened to them is a matter of perception, and that perception is based on experience. Whose to say to say that this was a happy or sad ending? Maybe it was just an ending.. or a beginning. “Blinded” is a masterpiece that showcases the profound brilliance of music and its ability to move you. Whoever made this video – all the respect & love!

My take on the video since I see lots of comments asking what the video is about. Seems fairly obvious that the lyrics are self explanatory but The girl is/has fallen out of love with the boy. She cares for him, and doesn't want to hurt him judging by the look she gives him but its not a look of love, its of not knowing how not to hurt him. He's in the mentality that it may just be a bump in the road or they've had hard times like this before and tries reignite what they had, possibly planning the overnight trip, but its apparent the silence of the whole night is not a good sign. The drive back and the trip to the pho place in between he comes to a realization that its over, and when she rolls over back at home in bed despite him still trying to hold her is her increasing need for space and her attempt to be more cold towards him in hopes it'll make things easier down the line.

Feel like some of us can relate a ton to this. The melody starts off with a hopeful tone to it with birds chirping and staring deeply into each others eyes and by the end we move to a more meloncholic yet cathartic realization in the boy has a sense of understanding yet unconditional love for her. We see and hear that we are at a point of no return and thats what makes us want to cling to the hope in the beginning, in a sort of nostalgic kind of way. Pretty crazy range of emotions for a short song imo. The beginning and end are beautiful in their own right.

I'd also like to add in the beginning she opens her eyes first and is staring. Most likely a sign of what she needs to do and let go, and that The lyrics are seemingly based on her emotions yet the music video shows more of the boys grief, kind of showing a communication disconnect in a symbolic sort of way.

Love is so dam interesting, complicated and hard sometimes. This video captures one of those complicated "endings" of a relationship most of us will have to go through and geez is it fu**ing difficult. It's like we all have this hopeless romantic part of us inside and see just what should/would/can be but that's the thing, that's not how life is and it's a painful lesson we have to accept. Like from the perspective of the guy, he probably sees her and thinks of how amazing she is and looks at her deeply...but the love just isn't there... Does he wish the love was still there? I'm sure. Does he think of all the good times they've had in the past? Definitely. Does he imagine what the future COULD be like just if..? I would think so. You want life to be simple and hopelessly romantic and amazing. It would still hurt him (as it does all of us) to accept letting her go and seeing her fall for someone else, with you having to start the process all over again while thinking of the adventures you once had with her. But that's just it.... that's life.... -thoughts from a hopeless romantic

This song/video is very ambiguous... Lots of ways you could probably interpret it, but here's my take:

It's definitely portraying a strained relationship, but I think some of the creative genius lies in the lyrics, which could be spoken by either character, but for different reasons. This is visually represented by the camera shots, which alternate between views of just him, and views of just her (i.e. his perspective / her perspective), almost like you are seeing what they each see when they look at each other.

His perspective: He's longing for the affection and playfulness they used to have in their relationship (note scene with other couple in the truck, 1:58), but he's trying to convince himself he "doesn't need it like he used to", because he's "blinded by" how much he loves her.

Her perspective: She's longing the rush and excitement of being infatuated with someone. They've been together for a long time, and and he doesn't make her feel that way anymore and so she "doesn't need him like she used to", because "she's been blinded" by the repetitiveness of being with the same person for so long.
