This video is going to be about how you can open the virtual machines automatically at the boot time in a Windows operating system. This method is going to work for the VMs running on Windows Server as well if you are using the VMWare Workstation or VMWare Player.

Fantastic workaround for the free version! I wouldn't have thought to simply script the work out and drop it in the startup folder. This is perfect!

Thanks for this tutorial, one note on an additional step I had to do. There was a permissions failure / file locked error at first after doing just your steps. I had to go and find the VM machine .vmx file, add permissions for 'SYSTEM' to use it and then it worked.

THANK YOU!
Im useing VMware to run my Home Assistant system, and i have been fighting to get it to startup with boot so that if my host computer looses power, Home Assistant would start up by itself when power is resumed. And it works now.

You have cured a headage i have been having for days 😂

I saw autologin is "Not supported' on your VM, how would you start a machine which is authenticated if your VM autologin is not supported?

Except this doesn't work unless someone logs in. What if Microsoft decides to force a reboot to install updates and no one is around to login?

How do you do this if the VM is encrypted? I follow your guide and it worked but a cmd window appeared and prompted me to type in the pass to my encrypted VM. However, I'm not able to edit the cmd window. Anything I can do to fix this?

"C:\Program Files (x86)\VMware\VMware Workstation\vmrun" -T ws start "C:\VMs\Windows 10.vmx"

Type the above in notepad and save it as .bat or .cmd file and paste this file in your startup

win+r type shell:startup
