I think playlists work for many people. For example, people with insomnia might choose to listen to an entire ASMR list to help them go to sleep and stay asleep. Or people who love a certain music artist may choose to listen to their songs while doing chores, working out or painting.

I don't get the part about long playlists. they are like folders for the channel. If I'm most of all interested in one theme or project on a given channel I'd love to see the specific playlist about it. If there are 130 videos than yay, I've got a lot of high quality content to watch.
Another way to use them playlists: arrange educational videos in a course. I learn German by those long playlists 30+ videos in each.

A new creator who has a lot of money who uses paid ads to grow his channel can get 3.5 million subscribers in 5 months. Regular folk videos die in 1 week. Corporations are funding many of these NEW channels.
