How to get a Showroom Shine on your Vintage Sewing Machine with Autoglym Super Resin Polish

In this video, I'll show you how to get a showroom shine on the painted parts of your vintage sewing machine using Autoglym Super Resin Polish.

I've used this on my cars for years with great results and the shine is just as good on a vintage sewing machine.

I'd really rather you didn't.
A vintage sewing machine has a very differerent surface finish than a car.
The car has a rather thick, uniform paint coat.
A vintage sewing machine has a very robust black japanning (no problem polishing that all day long), but above that, there are extremely delicate decals, protectected by a shellac clearcoat.
Shellac is water soluble.
So using a water-based polishing compound, which works perfectly fine on cars, will first dissolve the shellac protection, then very quickly ruin the decals.
Instead, you should remove all grime and dirt with petroleum, it will not dissolve the shellac. Once the surface is clean, you can then use a water-free waxing product for the shine.
