For my new series, Thank You Notes, I teamed up with Olay to challenge a group of women to surprise their role models — the women who inspired them to face anything — with a thank you note.

In this episode: Over the past few years, more and more survivors of sexual misconduct have felt empowered to share their story — because of the incredible activism of Tarana Burke, the founder of #MeToo. In a remarkable new episode of Thank You Notes, Jameela Jamil surprises Tarana to say, “Thank you.”

This video shows Jameela, the I Weigh founder and The Good Place actor, reading a powerful thank you note to Tarana. “#MeToo was the first time that I felt less alone in all of the sexual trauma that I’d faced in my life,” Jameela writes. “You found a humane and simple way of hyper-normalizing women and men addressing the sexual misconduct that they had faced. You destigmatized it for us to speak about.”

You won’t want to miss this episode.

At the end of the day, what matters the most is that Tarana's work has changed the world and because of her movement, sexual abuse will not be tolerated anymore and this is HOPE. That all children and people will never have to say "me too" again. She is doing God's work.

Such a beautiful speech Jameela Jamil never fails to stand up for what is right and honour the efforts of activists across the world, very inspiring.

I will add that to interrupt the systems that cause the violence also means changing values and attitudes of women. Stepping away from more traditional patterns to female behavior about being more discerning about sexual relationships with a partner was in my opinion a step into the wrong direction. The sexual freedom that ultra feminists wield around have pushed the envelope too far. The very act of women throwing around their bodies for mere sexual pleasure just because now there is a pill really really harmed the attitudes and perception of women in modern culture. It’s backwards to think that running around half naked on videos and engaging in consensual but irresponsible and frivolous sex with random people is a positive outcome for women to regain their respect and consequently positive feedback from men. While freedoms that traditional feminism fought for was valid and moral, modern feminism takes too far. There is a fine balance between extremes - this is the answer
