Показать описание
Hello designers and welcome to another Affinity Designer tutorial, in todays video you will learn how to use the Stroke Width Tool in version 2.5. This width tool allows you to add multiple pressure points and change the widths from thick to thin directly on the curve! Much like the pressure profiles tab but a thousand times easier!
It’s a super useful tool and will speed up your design workflow tremendously!
It works on curves or shapes created using the pencil tool, pen tool and the vector brush.

The main aim of this Affinity tutorial / course is to get you familiar with the stroke width tool and the relevant tools Affinity has to offer, along with using relevant options, shortcuts and techniques of design.

It’s beginner friendly and I’ll take it slowly and teach you step by step so you can follow along with me.

This is a full course and you will learn:

- How to Add the Stroke Width Tool to your tools bar
- The Basics of the Stroke Width Tool
- How to Remove a Pressure Point / Width
- How to Modify Width without changing the point position
- How to Modify Position Without Changing Width
- How to Manually Enter a Width value (plus keyboard shortcuts)
- How to use Lock Line Weight Option
- How to use Lock Point Ordering Option
- How to use Snap to Curve Nodes
- How to use Snap to Widths on Same Curve
- How to use the stroke width tool when creating a design

Affinity Designer V2 (2.5) Used in this tutorial.

Wow! This is excellent! I like to vectorize my drawings and this will make my lines even more "loose" like in the traditional drawing, very useful!

THANK YOU as always!!!

THANK YOU for doing this in the Light Mode. It is significantly more easy to see what you are doing on the menu bar and the control bar. I hope you agree.
I have watched a ton of tutorials on this platform, not just on Affinity, and I must say yours are some of the best. You explain things clearly and logically, in just the right level of detail, with examples, so thank you for that.
The only additional improvement suggestion I might add is to "illuminate" cursor clicks, especially when you're not zoomed in as much (as at other times). For example, at 7:00+, you say "I click here, and here, and here" at a zoom level where the cursor is not immediately apparent. Check your video editing software to see if it offers this option. Camtasia has this, as do several other programs.
Thanks again for some excellent tutorials. Take care.

how dare you make an interesting tutorial for the stroke width tool! ^^

ngl, I'm tired, I have ADHD, my meds wore off ages ago and I'm not in hyperfocus. Keeping my attention right now is NOT easy ^^ but I just watched the whole thing without grabbing for my phone. you can take this as a huge compliment ^^

it's a great and helpful tutorial. I like the pacing and speed of the explanations, they stay focused and on point but also nothing is rushed. You show and explain everything but it doesn't get confusing.

also, I can't express how much I appreciate the light mode ^^

Thank you sir, and how do you move the profile of one line to another if you want to emulate it?

It would be nice to be able to use these new features but I can't use 2.5 because it crashes on W11 after the logo screen. Not at all happy with Affinity right now.

This is great does it work with the vector brush tool? I can only make it work on the pen tool. Thanks!

For brush tool if you don't know why it isn't work:
1 - Select the vector line
2 - Go to Brush Properties, Increase 'Size Variance' to 100%, Pressure type

Can the pressure points be rotated? So, for example, when increasing size, it would thicken at a 45-degree angle? Can they also let you increase the size on one half of the line differently from the other?
