The 6.6 was my preference. Trying all 3, ram, ford, gmc I opted on the 6.6. Gmc 3500 4x4 crew... ram had the V8 feel, and towing was not the best in the torque range, I was only pulling 16k. In all 3 trucks, same load just swapped out the pulling vehicles. Next the ford while comfortable seats, felt interior was missing something. Over steer on the ford, and although quick empty, lacked a towing feeling when towing. The 6.6 gmc quiet cabin, firm balance when empty and towing, great acceleration when towing. The gmc was dialed in perfectly with the drive train. The better steering on the gmc when towing didn't lift front end and inspired confidence with the best control. The easy get to for all the engine components and maintenance on the gmc is way better than the other 2 contenders. Plus after seeing other reviews and the 7.3 disasters without ford backing their customers left me as a no trainer.

I have driven both engines in cutaway box truck configurations. The 6.6 drives down the highway like nothing, even with the box fully loaded. The 7.3 on the other hand hits a wall trying to reach 80-85 mph. I would pick the 6.6 any day

Gm should have upped the horses. The 7.3 is a little more beastly, which is to be expected

The badge on the Ford says XLT, you mentioned it was an XL. I appreciate this comparison between these two manufactures

The turn signal clicker on the Chevy would drive me crazy....

I got a suggestion for a video or videos. Vehicle comfortableness.
Like trucks, SUVs example the big thing I seen is massaging seats. Like who does it best what do they use etc. Also other things too. Since trucks, SUVs are very widely used and go on long trips etc.

I find it funny how people complain about right quality on heavy duty light trucks... They ride great. Try driving a semi.

Is Allison not the company who makes their transmissions?

I'm curious about a comparison between the Ford 6.8 compared the GM 6.6.

I'm more of a Chevy, dodge fan, not that I don't like Ford's, but real world the Chevy rides best down a gravel road, the straight axle just pounds the truck, Ford and dodge, I think it comes down to too much unsprung weight

Crazy the chevy has almost 1000lbs more gvrw but only 120lbs more payload.

Love my 6.6. The ride quality, and the the get up is just were it should be not a race truck by any means but will get up and go when needed. And off road it’s great.

I traded my 2020 7.3 for a 2023 6.6. So far I've put 30k on both trucks. I transport horses for a living. This is the first GMC I've owned in my life. I don't see myself going back to the 7.3.

How can you do a test drive going around the corner? If you can't put a few miles on and get on the highway, why bother?

I like both but the Ford looked like it had a much harder ride than the Chevy.

GM had an 8.1liter in 2000 should have brought it back

Ben, did you state that the power numbers of that Chevy 6.6L were ... 401HP and 464 FT LBS of torque?? Another commenter down below was wondering about the numbers (Ford 6.8L vs the Chevy 6.6L). I thought Chevy had the HP at 420 for the HD 2500/3500 gas engines? Great vid as always!

Not sure why the comparison always ends up like a dick measuring contest. It's not about racing. It's about a truck you buy to work with. I choose comfort and dependability and GM wins that every time in my experiences. Decades of ford junk. Never had anywhere near the issues with my gm trucks as I did with fords. Keep your 7.3 salamander. Already seeing tons of warranty work on them😅
