Diana's father had been an equerry to the Queen. Her grandmother was a lady in waiting to the Queen Mother. The families were very intertwined and well acquainted going back for centuries. Diana was not a "commoner" by any stretch of the imagination.

I couldn't go out with someone who previously courted one of my sisters. I guess we all have different boundaries.

Lady Fermoy, her maternal grandmother was absolutely despicable. She had Frances, her 18 year old daughter (Diana’s mother) married off to the 30 year old Earl Spencer. When Frances wanted to leave the marriage after giving birth to his male heir, Lady Fermoy testified against Frances, leading her to lose custody of the children. Frances is often seen as a villain, but like Diana, she had a truly tragic life of a forced marriage with even less family support.

Royals thru the ages have had arranged marriages. That is what this was, the Spencer family moved up socially with the marriage, her father, mother and sister knew what she was getting into. Charles loved another, and was denied it.
It is a world that is led by duty.

#1 She was NOT a kindergarten teacher but an aide to the teacher. She passed out crayons, etc. She failed out of school at 16 years of age and could not qualify to be a teacher. #2 Diana's meeting with John Travolta at the White House was NOT a chance encounter. Diana was asked whom she would like to be invited and she specifically requested that Travolta be there.

Not all people ignore them, it’s just not worth it, as you can see by the Saint Diana fanatics. She was a lovely person, I’m sure, but she was also a real person, with real problems, and weaknesses.

Let's not forget another strange fact that everyone just ignores: she flung herself down a flight of stairs while pregnant. That's some institutional level crazy.

I think the gap between Charles and Diana was more than their 12+ year age gap. As I understand it, Charles was always an old soul, even as a child. So, in his early 30’s, he thought and behaved more like someone much older. Diana was quite young for her age so there wasn’t just a gap between them - it was more like an abyss!

Diana finishing school was in Switzerland. It was the last of Princess Diana's formal education. She never attended university at all, and her education had ended at 16. The finishing school was more of a social formality, and her education in Switzerland included things such as sewing and French, but nothing academic.

She wasn't a " part time kindergarten teacher". She was a Kindergarten teacher's assistant.

She wasn't just "Diana Soencer" She was "Lady Diana", daughter of the Earl Spencer. While tha tmeans nothing for US, it means a LOT to the aristocracy.

Princess Diana was not the first royal to give birth at St. Mary’s Hospital. It was Princess Anne.

Diana turned 20 July 1, 1981. She got married on July 29, 1981. She was 12 years Charles junior. The narrative insists she was 19 when she wed. The date of the wedding was set as it was due to her age. It allowed her to be 20, rather than 19.

I always loved the story of her, Freddie, and the actress going out on the town.

I think Fergie gave Diana the strength to be herself. She was so young when she married, she hadn’t had a chance to find herself yet. Fergie helped her be just herself.

Didn’t know about her grandmother. I found that kind of sad

Well, now I'm confused. I thought the queen picked Diana for Charles and some of the criteria was she had to be Anglo Saxon and a virgin. I remember she had to be examined by a doctor to prove her virginity. I thought neither she nor Charles were interested in each other romantically and he, even then, loved Camilla. Also, I thought the princess had only 20 safe minutes at the gay club because any longer than that would have made getting caught more probable. There is one thing I'm 100% certain about though.... I saw it rain flowers the day she was laid to rest. I'd never seen anything like it before and haven't seen it since. I'll always remember seeing that hearse being showered with flowers to the point the wipers had to be used to keep the windshield clear. She may not have been a perfect human being, but she was perfectly perfect for her part in the world. I loved her.
