I feel sorry for the village girl. She's been selling flowers for months to save up and get the $100 MoCap, and Miku shows up does a dance party on her corpse.

I'm actually obsessed with how good of a dancer she is. All of the minor details that go into her performance are spectacular

This is a really good demonstration of why mocap in film isn't just a matter of recording an actor's motions!
Miku mimics the dancer's motions perfectly here, but differences in proportions make a HUGE difference in the energy of the performance. The shoulders especially make this super clear- the dancer uses a lot of big, dramatic shoulder motions, but Miku's shoulders are so thin and comparatively close-together that the energy of her motion isn't anywhere near as dramatic.
In a production setting, an artist would use the mocap data as a basis for further animation, working to convey the spirit of the actor's performance more closely.
There are a lot of Hollywood types that try to sell the idea that mocap performances in movies are 1:1 copied from data created through the actor's performance, but it's important to remember to respect the work animators put in to give that data convincing life :D

1:04 thru 1:15 is actually insane like I can't stop watching it. Especially 1:13 that half-star thing she draws or whatever literally makes my brain lag it's too smooth. Also I keep trying to watch Miku but Akira just steals my attention away every time, she's just so electric and exciting to watch. We really need to find a way to harness dance as a renewable energy source bc I firmly believe one 4-minute dance from this lady could singlehandedly power a small suburb of Chicago for 5 years straight

This dancer is named “B-Girl, ” or “Akira.” Give her credit because of her proffesional dances! She worked with this company, because of her unique energetic dancing style.

no joke, i was focused on the dancer's movements more than the mocap's comparison tbh, her kick literally left me speechless. i love her energy!

You can tell she loves her job and it really shows in every movement. This woman deserves a standing ovation.

While the $25k one is clearly superior, I'm actually impressed at how well the $100 one can keep up haha.

I can't believe how much power is conveyed through the Mocap. The technology is really accurate and having such a skilled dancer makes it look even better.

This is my first time seeing the 25k tech in action and I am so surprised by how much movement and life it gives to the model. Even the fingers?? That is crazy. Also great dancer. She's got great personality in her professional dancing.

Most impressive about the $25k one is how it able to sense the feet movements accurately and kept her model grounded. The $100 struggles to keep track and it floats the model lol.

I know this is a tech demonstration, but of my god her dancing looks so free and effortless, man I envy dancers

Also the difference here that they don't tell you is how complex your model is,
if you have a model with a very basic skeleton, you are going to get very rigid results like a cheap action figure,
but if you get a model with a nice amount of extra "bones" or "joints" you are going to get a lot more realistic of movement.

Dude, this lady can dance. Also, that kick for the left avatar at 3:12 broke the laws of physics.

The 25k mocap was remarkable, it didn't miss a step the entire time. The $100 one was fantastic for the price, it really kept up well! But most importantly, lady in the middle... you got MOVES girl, gawddamn! Lmao.

Seeing the dancer having so much fun and a smile on their face the whole time is honestly the best part. The costly setup sure is impressing in terms of precision !

I didn't see the "k" in "$25k" and was astonished at how well a cheaper product was performing 😂 nvm 'bout that

That dancer did a complete workout in just 4 minutes

Honestly, I had stopped paying attention to either of the Mocaps by 30 seconds in because I was so captivated by the dancer in the middle. Her cute fuckin satisfied smile when she nails a The immaculately fluid body rolls!! She is having SO much fun and I am living for it. Nothing virtually captured and generated will hold a candle to a real human dancing for me until they can capture the vibe, the attitude, the sass, the essence, the fucking JOY radiating from a human being when they dance. Is it even possible? I don’t know, maybe.

Her dancing, though. Ugh, swoon!

For those wondering, the song is ヒアソビ by かめりあ (Play With Fire / Hiasobi by Camellia).
