IN THIS EPISODE:

In this sixth episode of the series, you come and flight with me to learn about Center Pivot Irrigation Systems.

Center-pivot irrigation (sometimes called central pivot irrigation), also called water-wheel and circle irrigation, is a method of crop irrigation in which equipment rotates around a pivot and crops are watered with sprinklers.

A circular area centered on the pivot is irrigated, often creating a circular pattern in crops when viewed from above (sometimes referred to as crop circles, not to be confused with those formed by circular flattening of a section of a crop in a field).

Center-pivot irrigation systems are beneficial due to their ability to efficiently use water and optimize a farm's yield. The systems are highly effective on large land fields.

Thank you. Great explanation of a question I had for years, every time I flew over these.

Totally OP to show this concept from the air - thanks.
A drip system is said to be much more effective in water usage and how plants take in the water. Perhaps much of the water is lost due to vaporization with the center pivot? On the other hand, the cooling effect is probably also very useful?
