Iconic Portland Maine Restaurants & Famous Foods (Food Tour)

We have made it to Maine! Over the next two days, we will be trying the most iconic dishes and foods Maine and Portland have to offer, from oysters to lobster rolls to blueberry cake (and even the famous Holy Donuts), we are delighted with all of the amazing food and restaurants Portland has to offer.

They are pet friendly, which is awesome!

As a Maine native, I've visited Portland countless times. And each time I do, I it a habit to stop in at Duckfat in the Old Port. Best fries and shakes I've ever had.

Nice video! I LOVE Maine! A lobster roll with warm lobster is a Connecticut thing. Lobster rolls in Maine are made with cold/chilled lobster.

what a fun trip! I have had oysters on the half shell and they are yummy but not something i would eat on the daily. Oh I looked at the holy donut website and this is what it said about the recipe, “The (not-so) secret ingredient: fresh Maine potatoes. Adding mashed potatoes gives the donuts a delicious moist texture that makes them just melt in your mouth.”

Sometimes at home, I put bacon bits in the chowder as a cheap way to enjoy the taste of bacon.

Check out RiRa's in the Old Port for authentic Irish food, the staff is amazing there. There are also other places to eat that doesn't serve seafood for those that can't or don't care for it. There are also a really great bar called Bar of Chocolate...I highly suggest going there if you are a fellow chocolate lover like I am. Even if you don't eat, just walking around Portland you get to see so many cool buildings. A cool non food place is the Sock Shack.

I was enjoying my Brunch of Eggs and fresh Everything Bagels from my favorite local Bagel 🥯 restaurant while watching this video and was craving something sweet for oh where am I going to find Blueberry 🫐 Cake in Orlando? Oh my....that looked delicious!!!

it just came to my thought that american donuts is just using flour! I live in Indonesia and all we have is donut with potato, it is soo good and super classic.. im excited to try this one!

We took a trip to southern Maine this past June and absolutely loved it. If you have time on your way back, check out Nubble light at Cape Neddick. It was our favorite lighthouse that we got to see.

My thing with food is when I eat it I want to be able to say more than “Not bad.” 😂 I’ll never eat oysters again. Seems like a waste of money for something that’s just tolerable.
