super cool, but a little too impractical (and terrifying) to use in the modern era. also, general romulo sounds like a cool dude.

Looks beautiful, great to have all the documentation and collection of wire reels. Yeah I would not want to use one of those regularly, I'm getting stressed just looking at it rewinding. I've only seen one wire reel here, never a machine. I have seen a Webster Chicago reel to reel though and it looked like quite an early one, so they had at least two irons in the fire when it came to audio recording devices.

Someone gave me a Webster model 180-1 wire recorder several years ago. I plan on restoring the chassis with good tubes. I also have a 1951 Webster record player. These wire recorders started being produced in 1947. Mine has an owners tag and date purchased, which was on August 12th, 1950. Webster changed their name to Webcor in 1953. They were located at 5610 Bloomingdale Avenue in Chicago.
