SHOJI WHITE BY SHERWIN WILLIAMS | Is it BEIGE or GRAY?

This color code is about Shoji White, which is not actually as white as you might think. This Sherwin Williams off-white is closer to a light gray-beige colour, but I think it's worth your attention because of it's versatility. That being said, it may not be the perfect color to use throughout your entire home, and I'll tell you why!

I just finished having my living/dining/kitchen in this color. I also have it in the hallway and my master bedroom. I love it!!!

Excellent, as always. You CONFIRMED my hunch that I was seeing a wee bit of green with Shoji White. I wasn't crazy!!

One of my favorites. I like it with many mid-mod wood tones. Great with honey colored oak floors too.

Your colour choices and their associated combinations are always so elegant! I really appreciate how you’ve taken to pairing the base and trim colours on the little circles, thank you!

I had Shoji White as my "Main Color" of my previous house. It was perfect!

I chose this color for my 2 story home exterior. I wanted white but didn't want to blind my neighbors. I trimmed it with Tony Toupe and Urbane bronze. It is so pretty. Love this white. So soft and pretty.

Looks like a perfect fit to go with my accessible beige hallway that leads to my Birch cabinets kitchen. Just for the walls in the kitchen. Cabinets are staying wood. Ajd the open TV room thats connected to it with no barrier. Northern light. I still my just go all accessible. But idk. This looks good. Thanks

It's a warm off-white, definitely doesn't read gray. I have it on the majority of my interior walls and it's a lovely color!

I just painted most of my interior space with Shoji White. When I had just the kitchen painted I was seeing gray in the Shoji. But as I moved in to the Family Room, which runs together with kitchen, I saw less gray. Then I moved in to my dining and living area so now most of it is Shoji White. Now I don’t see any color at all - it just looks like a nice white - not cold and stark, not beige, not green, not gray. I really think what color you see when you first look at it is kind of a “optical illusion” - it’s what your brain interprets given your paint history. It’s kind of like when you smell something subtle for a long time you begin not to be able to smell it anymore. I think it was a good choice. I’m still getting used to it - I went from a camel brown (it looked nice) so going to white really changed how the room “feels.” Somehow all the angles and corners feel more “crisp” which means the accompanying furniture and other objects in the room need to be very well done.

So helpful! What are your thoughts on Shoji White in a north facing, windows only on Northside townhomes? Do you think it will lean very green?

An interior decorator recommended shoji white for my living room. I have greige furniture and an even darker greige floor. My living room opens up to my kitchen which has blue/gray cabinets that definitely lean more blue. Do you think this will work? I am wondering if my living room might have too much greige in it if I use shoji white, considering I already have so much greige color in it with the floor and furniture colors. My house is north facing and I have a red brick fireplace in the living room. I will be adding blue accents to the living room over time. Your advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you, this is helpful! I'd love to see a review of SW Worldly Gray and colors for adjacent rooms that may flow well with it (lighter and darker). Specifically other neutrals, but color-color would be helpful, too :)

I’m into traditional style. Please give your opinion on a good neutral for a Southern Living look!

Do have a review on Greek Villa for walls? I would like to pair it with trim in High Reflective white for a clean contrast.

We have a townhome with two floors, kitchen and living space in one and upstairs is joined with downstairs so it has to be the same color throughout the house ( except for all the bedrooms and bathrooms ) Now, downstairs only has one single window facing another beige/white building where the sun hits which makes our downstairs space extremely dark and dingy. Current color is a greige color that is nice but feels very dark where shadows hit which is 80% of downstairs. What are my options here in terms of off white paint for this entire townhomes open areas? We need light in our life.
