Just 2 miles from Gloucester is the all-year outdoor Robinswood Hill dry ski-slope where Eddie the Eagle sort-of learned to ski. A cosy alpine-feel bar-restaurant and a spa-hotel with indoor pool, steam-room, sauna, gym etc are a few yards away - and there's a full 18-hole golf-course 50 yards from all of that...

One more place to visit? Just in case you think Gloucester is all about history - which I love, by the way - you should go to Kingsholm Rugby ground on a match day. Bang in the middle of the city, excellent modern facilities, & probably packed out with the crowd. It's rugby, so you may not understand all the rules, but you'll enjoy the atmosphere in the ground, & in the pubs nearby, where supporters of both sides will be 'having a pint' side by side, and because it's rugby, you need have no fear for your personal safety!

What a pity that No 4 Gloucester Life talks about the attractiive half timbered museum for Gloucestershire Social History and the lodge where Bishop Hooper stayed before he was burnt at the stake and yet shows a totally different building further along the street.
