closest I can think of is a Pentax zoom that usually goes for $300+ but will have to look up the model number etc. Think it's an 8mm to 48mm

Thanks for making such a nice and informative video. I've just started looking into using C-mount lenses on my GH2 and you cleared up a lot of questions I've had.

Thanks for making this. I'm also in Philly btw. I've taken a Computar 12.5mm 1.3 and a Fotodiox C-mount adapter and am trying to find the right depth to cut the adapter down so that I can focus to infinity. I have the back of the lens flush with the rear of the adapter or maybe even a little further in than flush. I can focus really well on close up objects but after I pull back to about a yard or a little over an arm's length it starts to go fuzzy. (continues >)

Thanks for the review - this looks like a great lens. I was in New Orleans / Bourbon St. and pulled out the GH2 with my Olmypus 50mm f1.8 and boy was it great in low light so I'm a firm believer in low f lenses now. I'm trying to wrap my head around all the different lens mounts and I read the advantage of Micro 4/3 is that it can be used with almost any other lens with the correct adapter. But back to this lens - go price f1.4 or lower lenses - at lease $1000+ and this wide does not exist

Nice! By the way, I like the lens / lighting you used for your in-vision pieces to camera.

Actually I've been using the 7-14mm since this video was made, I'd say the Tamron is great if you want to save $800 vs. the 7-14mm. Sharpness wise, it is on the internet but at the wide end of the lens it was very sharp in person and was impressed with it at the 4-7mm range. Like I said in the video, the long end of the lens at 12mm it does get soft/glowy unless you're using it as a macro lens.

Also, never got around to using or trying the megapixel rated one, I'll have to look into that.

I've used the service of a local mechanic and a lathe to get my adapter widen to 49mm in diameter and 1.8mm deep. Works great.

Thanks for doing the video man! nicely done and well worth pointing out, these things are not going to replace proper lenses but they give a surreal and strange look to the moving image that can be used for all kinds of projects!

got this lens also, based on your review.. great cheap wide low light lens for the gh2.. If you need wide low light and only have a few bucks this is a great lens. A bit harder to use being cctv, but gets the jobs done quite well.

I just received this lens from B&H for my GH-3.Those night shots in Philly were fantastic! I'm will probably use the vivid mode for night video, but I was wondering what settings you used for contrast/saturation/noise reduction etc?
Great review, Jerry

There's a screw mount to thread through the sanding just enables the lens to reach it. But I've heard people having luck with newer C mount adapters without sanding after this video was made.

Well done presentation. Thank you! What color correcting softwear are you using? FCP?
