I know this is a gospel song preaching the gift of god. I hear this song and I only think of my momma. I was born early and they didn't think I would make it, legally I had been removed from my biological mother for drug abuse reasons and then my mom came along. A white woman from the CD in seattle and raised me and 3 others. A white woman with 4 black kids, and never once did I question if she loved me as her own. I hear what she did for me in the lyrics. However I do know it was only through the grace of god that I even survived.

I first heard this years ago. Years later I find myself playing this on repeat. My wife’s uncle who I had a very strong bond with just passed. He’s one of the few that have ever heard me sing. When I did sing I did my best imitation of this version of this song. Now every time I listen to this video I think of him. It hurts, but I realized why he wanted me to sing this song specifically. He wanted me to truly feel and understand the lyrics. Watching this video is the comfort that I need right now.... thank you Drew... this has become timeless for me.
