I can explain the lyrics to my girlfriend in every way possible, but its just a feeling, a passion and raw emotion that really affects you when listening to these songs. The cultural pride runs

The ancestors speaking to us through the music❤

Bendición❤🇵🇷

Fighting since the Spanish invaded the Caribbean. It’s a miracle so many of us still come up with significant Taíno DNA in 2025. I always tie the spirit of our ancestors to how resilient Boricuas have always been. It’s literally in our blood. Gentrification won’t kill us off either. Anyone who doesn’t understand why we will dress ourselves in the flag or colors of the flag simply needs to be directed to songs like Preciosa, Que Bonita Bandera, Puerto Rico y Yo, Me Quedo en Puerto Rico, Querido FBI, Oldest Colonia, Afilando Los Cuchillos, and La Mudanza.

2:11 important to mention that when he speaks about not being able to show the flag he is speaking by about the Ley de La mordaza, which wasn’t during Spanish rule. It was during the US regime in the 1940 and 50’s.

Strong message with passionate instrumentals.

I was born and raised in Orlando, first born outside of the island. I always said that i would move to PR when i became a mother. I have already been so "Americanized" that if i had a daughter, another generation out of the island, our culture would be diluted. So after i had my daughter; my mother, little sister and i moved to Puerto Rico. Y aqui estoy! Me mudé antes de Maria y con todo y eso me quedé! Venga lo que venga, yo me voy a quedar. Mis abuelos lucharon por esta isla maravillosa y quiero que mi hija disfrute de ella en las manera que yo no pude!

The flag was perceived to be a call for independence from U.S. rule and so there was a law that was passed in 1948 by a U.S. appointed governor that criminalized owning or displaying a flag, singing a patriotic tune or even writing about independence. Some people died and others were imprisoned, as a result. It was overturned 9 years later for violating free speech. This time, however, the color of the flag was changed from a lighter shade of blue to a darker shade of blue to match the blue on the U.S. flag.

Beautiful album, as I don’t understand spanish I was enjoying the music at first, but when I started to read the English lyrics version of most of the songs, everything changed and made me so emotional. I am from Mauritius a small island in the Indian ocean and I feel so much connected to those words, because we were colonised in the past and our people who were taken from their land, Africa, India have suffered so much from hard labour and slavery, many were also killed, today even if we had our independence 54 years ago. Unfortunately there’s still a strong presence of the french and British colonies who are still in control of our Island, when i went to school they used to stop us from speaking our local language called Creole, we were told it was rude or vulgar. Today we want to give our creole language the value and importance it deserves, even if many parts of our island are still owned by the colonists who sell our beautiful coast to put hotels and destroy our beautiful lagoon . There’s a big fight happening, protestation to fight against the projects that will rob and destroy our coasts. Those projects have already destroyed a big part of our land already. Our souls are crying for help as its our home and we feel powerless, but this song gives so much hope. Im glad this guy is actually creating songs that will resound forever. ❤

I’m Venezuelan, had to leave my country when I was 17 due all the tyranny of the regime we currently have over there, and this album came out to remind me how proud I am to be from a colorful country such as my dear Venezuela, I’ve known several Boricuas since I moved to the US, and they are the nicest people, I feel like we hispanics share a special bond, thank you Benito por un album tan hermoso, viva PR ❤

I still only have an intermediate level of spanish, so I have to look up the spanish lyrics in order to get a better understanding of the song. I already could feel the passion and knew the general meaning of the song after listening a few times. Once I looked up the lyrics, my love for this song grew even more. I think he deserves a lot of respect for this album that he put together. its very thoughtful and intentional, and makes you want to dance and cry for things in the past. Maybe its because I have an puerto rican uncle, but I can really feel the emotion in la mudanza in particular. such a good album.

I would like people making videos of their older generation from PR and to talk to us about how it made them feel. Cause this was awesome
