Record Breakers and Re-Shuffles - Vendée Globe - Week 2 Review

Usually, a week into the Vendée Globe and you have a good idea of who will be at the top of the leaderboard. 
But this time unusually complex weather systems have challenged the status quo and repeatedly turned the leaderboard inside out. Turn your back for a few minutes and the fleet had been reshuffled. Keeping up to date with who was leading seemed impossible.
Yet, amid the constant place changing and stop start nature of the second week there were two new records set and plenty to report on as the skippers got into their stride.
Matt Sheahan reports on the fleet's progress.

11:00 great coverage, you guys are my new favourite channel for the Vendée Globe. Rooted for Thomson for the past 20 years or so, but now there are three amazing Britons to cheer; and they are both called "Sam", then there is Pip. But le Cam and Cla-Cla also live in my heart. Climbing K2 is "easy", racing the Vendée Globe is not.

Great work again Matt. These machines are absolutely bonkers, I don't think even a 'normal' sailor could cope with an Imoca even for a gentle cruise from Plymouth to Poole !!! Amazing. Oh, and thanks for letting the sailors speak and not talk over them (some channels do), they know they're doing something special and you can't help getting drawn into supporting them.

Great coverage Matt. Tiny correction though; Louis Burton repaired damage to his deck caused by compression from the port side jockey pole used to outboard sheet the code zero, not compression from the deck spreader. Had it been from his deck spreader he would have had a much more serious rigging problem on his hands! Cheers!
