I can't thank you enough for presenting this seminar, Jennifer (and you, Martin, for hosting it). Years ago, I sat through a "Writing Picture Books" presentation that left me disappointed - the advice was basically a lot of rules, quite rigid, and the presenter warned that it was pointless for any of us to send anything to an agent or publisher that didn't fit exactly into her 32-page format. Discouraged, I returned home to finish writing my "pointless" manuscript, then filed it carefully in my desk drawer. Several months later, I shared it with my neighbor's children, and they found it hysterical. It's not great literature, but I knew it had made an impression when I was standing at my kitchen sink, staring at the dirty dishes, and overheard those little girls singing some lines from my manuscript. They made up a melody and sang the lines while they jumped rope, and played with sidewalk chalk.

Your Picture Book seminar provided clear information about what's really necessary, and your presentation was easy & comfortable, which made it easy for me to understand. When I need genuine guidance about writing/editing picture books or anything else, you'll hear from me. Thanks again. To quote my younger self: "You rock!"
