😭😭😭😭i had changed all the cosx to sinx(using identities and cofunction) got a trinomial and solved, how do i know when to do this or factorise first

hi. why cant we just divide both sides by cos x +1 ?

Am I the only one who first worked it out on their own and divided that (cosx+1) both sides?😭ended up finding then tanx=3 answer only🥲
