US election: Russian network spreads fake news reports | BBC Verify

A Russian disinformation network has been impersonating dozens of media organisations, including the BBC, and has shared false news reports online in the run-up to the US election.

The operation has also been targeting journalists and fact-checking organisations asking them to check their own fake reports.

BBC Verify’s Olga Robinson has been looking into how the network operates and its possible aims.

There is a simple way to tlell whether a vid is real or fake, only watch news videos from the actual channels of those networks. I know this is real because this video is on the BBC youtube channel.

I have noticed some of this nonsense promoted in comment sections too. After being an administrator on a website myself, I know enough to check accounts, find the origin of those.
I tend to agree, it's a tactic to keep fact checking overwhelmed so the fakery can hopefully skate by.
What's infuriating is the assumption people are stupid.
Simple things like VERIFYING and looking for 3 independent sources will help prevent more of this.
