For all those having issue with Image not showing on browser : The image has saved to requried path target/classes/static/image --> but problem is that sts is not showing the subfolder beyond the target.
You may check this by opening the target with show in System-exployler option.

In project explorer :
Click on 3 dots options --> filters and customizations--> uncheck "Java Ouptut folders"

But no solution for image link not opeing. PLs help for this.
