The Canadian government is launching a public inquiry into foreign election interference, and public safety minister Dominic Leblanc revealed the details on Thursday.

The inquiry will be led by Quebec appeal court justice Marie-Josée Hogue, who has been a judge in Quebec's top court for the past eight years and has been practicing law since 1987.

This all comes in the fallout of former governor general David Johnston's resignation as special rapporteur on election interference.

David Baxter has the details from Ottawa on what comes next.

There should be three judges, all appointed by different parties. All their findings should be kept private until they are published to see if any of them match up.

Imagine a judge from Alberta instead of a judge from Quebec 🤔
Would this be different and how ?

Oh boy….. here we go with probably a ruling of no interference…. If this judge is a liberal appointed judge we have no hope

Let me guess, she used to be on the board of the Trudeau foundation. Or gave a sizeable donation to the cause

And Global can’t reference Pierre as the present leader of the CPC but taps O’Toule for comment? How stupid is that?

I wish I could appoint my own judge, but apparently only liberal elites have that priviledge.

Too bad there aren't any judges in Canada west of Ottawa or east of Quebec city

How much money has this judge donated to the Liberal Party? Any other judges in Canada besides Ontario and Quebec?

"no one is questioning the results of the past two federal elections." except the people of canada, not that that ever counts for anything. im sure that judge from a province that barely considers itself canadian will be totally objective though...

(Long) Canada's 🇨🇦 foreign interference inquiry needs to consider the following steps:
- limiting the number of diplomatic and consular officials (spies) allowed in Canada,
- closing down the Toronto and Vancouver consulates,
*- creating a foreign agent registry making foreign interference a crime, *
- closing down Beijing’s “police stations, "
- canceling "sister city" programs with China,
- closing down all Confucius institutes,
- Banning United Front Work operatives *from entry to Canada.*

Let me guess, "we've investigated ourselves and found no wrong doing."

Canadian 🇨🇦 PM Trudeau raised the issue of Chinese interference
directly with Chinese Xi Jinping at the G20 summit in Indonesia, who later
berated him for informing media about their conversation.
