What does it mean to 'hate my life'? John 12:25

In theThis video I go over the phrase hate my life in this world found in John 12 :25. It requires he to truly want to put something to death and we as Christians are called to put the death our flesh. But do we actually hate our fleshly self? Romans eight verse 13 promises that as we put to death the flash in the spirit we will experience true living. It’s the same promise found here in John 12 :25.
