For many companies, Scope 3 emissions account for more than 75% of their carbon footprint - rising to as much as 99% for some sectors. Tackling these emissions is critical if we are to make Net Zero a reality, and while large corporates are setting Scope 3 targets and committing to decarbonising their value chains, many businesses are still struggling to take action.

On September 20, during Climate Week’s premier Scope 3 event and together with leading experts and companies, we explored and discussed solutions to accelerate action when traceability is ‘imperfect’, enable collaboration and partnerships, and make Net Zero value chains a reality in today’s Scope 3 landscape.

Agenda:
Plenary panel: Enabling Scope 3 Action - Exploring mechanisms to solve for traceability and accounting challenges.
Breakout #1: Can market-based mechanisms accelerate the decarbonisation of our food system?
Breakout #2 Achieving net zero fashion through collective action
Breakout #3 Co-claiming value chain impact the credible way

Breakout #1: Can market-based mechanisms accelerate the decarbonisation of our food system?

The Food and Agriculture sector is directly responsible for close to one quarter of the total global CO2eq emissions. Conscious of the role they can play in global decarbonisation efforts, an increasing number of companies are committing to reducing their Scope 3 emissions. In this session, join companies who are taking action to learn more about implementing value chain interventions and discuss sector-specific solutions for accounting, monitoring and assurance in Food & Agriculture.

Breakout #2 Achieving net zero fashion through collective action

The collective nature of Scope 3 and the complexity of the apparel sector’s value chains create unprecedented challenges. To successfully reach net zero, apparel companies must collaborate with their peers, balancing both individual and collective action. In this session, we explore how to enable global partnerships and implement shared value chain interventions.

Breakout #3 Co-claiming value chain impact the credible way.

What kind of claims from shared value chain interventions are appropriate and credible? What mechanism can allow for co-claiming while safeguarding against double counting? In this session, we discuss the need and solutions to build a co-claiming system to enable organisations to co-invest and collaborate
