Why is Nightwing being constantly disrespected by the writers? He is literally the first Robin, who outgrew the costume so he took up Nightwing as his title, because he was that good. The whole point of his character is that he was always more than just Batman's protege. And then some brat gets to thoroughly beat him to paste, because "Damian is Batman's biological son, so he must be just as good as him".
Happened here, happened in the injustice movie

Lot of people are saying they hate this scene because it shows that Damian is a better fighter than Nightwing. The main issue with that being that it's obviously not true and that's not what this scene is showing. Nightwing was going so wildly easy on this kid throughout the entire fight. He constantly shown to be the one leading the fight, always having Damian on the defensive, he drops his weapon just cuz he feels like it after knocking Damian's out of his hands, then pushes the fight toward his own old robin suit just to make Damian look at it after beating him up. All the while making fun of him and super casual about it all. Damian pushed him off the balcony and the sparring match was over. Granted, I thinks it's dumb the writers felt the need to give Damian some recognition by "beating" Nightwing. But saying you genuinely think Damian is better than Nightwing from this scene is pretty braindead.

And some wonder why no one likes Damian. It doesn't matter that he's less experienced, smaller, and arrogant, he still gets to throw a full grown man like Nightwing around like a ragdoll because he's just that "perfect". He's basically the living embodiment of "Because he's batman"
