DREAM BUILD MTB - Marin Hawk Hill

There are a lot of requests made in the comments of Dream Build videos, it seems that a lot of you want to see more variety in the components used and occasionally bikes which are more affordable whilst still being super special and unique...

This Marin Hawk Hill is a great example of building a bike which is different to the usual examples seen, more affordable whilst being incredibly fun to ride on a range of different trails. I spec'd each piece on this bike myself and I'm really happy with what we managed to create, you don't need to spend tens of thousands to have a Dream Build if you don't want to...

Bars, Cranks, Headset, Bottom Bracket, Wheels are covered by FSA which make a huge variety of really nice and functional products, the cranks might not be carbon but they are super light and I was really impressed with the finish:

Suspension is provided by Manitou:

Gearing and brakes are a mixture of mostly Shimano SLX 12 speed, with a Deore cassette and XTR rapid fire shifter:

The frame is a small Marin Hawk Hill:

Tyres are a mixture of Pirelli enduro and hard terrain for the rear:

This mechanic is the kind of guy that fits the brake calipers spot on the first try

I'm bicycle mechanic too, but in countryside of Russia, so I only dreaming of working on and ride bikes like this. However my old Jamis Trail-X not so bad for commuting and city riding.
Thank you guys for your videos, it is pleasure to watch!

Finally, a build where the frame doesn't cost twice as much as my whole bike! Great vids, keep it up.

Finally! A dream build I can afford and see myself build one in the future, actually have manitou fork and SLX breaks on my hardtail. This one is really refreshing when you have all of those drool worthy super bikes, more of this "budget builds" on your channel please 🤙

I accomplished my own dream build for just under 3k! 2017 Transition Patrol alloy frame, RockShox Deluxe with MegNeg air can, Ohlins RXF 36 EVO fork, Race Face ARC 30 Offset rims laced to Shimano M8100 XT hubs wrapped in GoodYear Newton and Newton ST tires with Ultimate Enduro casings and 203mm Sram Centerline rotors. I used Sapim Laser spokes, Wheel Smith nipples and Whisky washers. Magura MT Trail brakeset, Shimano 12 speed SLX groupset with XT shifter (multi-release FTW) DMR Defy stem and Deathgrips, Race Face Chester bar, Brand X Ascend XL 170mm dropper post, Bike Yoke Sagma saddle and Crank Bros Mallet 2 pedals. . . Only the frame w/shock and pedals were used. EVERYTHING else was Brand spanking new! Got the fork on an end of year closeout sail, brakeset on sale on Merlin cycles, wheels cost me around 330 for parts and built em myself. It's by no means a super bike and of course I'd love an AXS groupset, PUSH elevensix shock, EXT Era fork, Zipp Moto rims laced to Onyx Vespers and Shigura XT5 brakes but I'm extremely proud of what I accomplished for just over $2, 900. Eliminating bike shop labor fees by taking the time to learn how to do everything yourself saves TONS of money

When I was a kid, I used to love quietly watching my dad as he worked on the car or some other home project. These videos make me feel like that kid again. No talking, no loud background music, just quietly watching someone do their work. I could watch these videos all day. I hope to build my own dream (gravel) bike one day. Your videos keep my dream alive. Thank you.

0:44 When we sometimes forgot about the direction of rotation at Manitous but we are careful not to make damage in the shaft. Congrat for the nice video. :)

There is something satisfying about watching the process of building a bike. Thank you for your videos. I think I’ve watched them all and they bring so much joy to my heart. It’s hard to explain. When I can’t ride, or upgrade my bike, these videos just bring

I have loved Marin bikes since my friend had one in high school in the '90s. Matt Jones has recently brought them back to the forefront for me and in 2020 a bike shop in Owen Sound (where I live) started selling them. I really like their range of bikes. Great Build!!!

It's very strange but interesting that everyone watches for the bikes but yet straight away we pick up on new lubes and greases.😂. Nice build.😎

Nice to see some new kit from Manitou and FSA included vs the more well know larger brands that seem to be the same on every bike.

My favorite build of all. Because it's more realistically in my economy. Keep it a mix, and you got the fix!
