Tamassos Dam - Φράγμα Ταμασσού

Tamassos Dam is an artificial lake in the Nicosia Districts, located in the administrative boundaries of the communities of Kampia and Pera.

An earthen and stone dam, which was completed in 2002, was constructed to create the lake. It has a capacity of 2.8 million cubic meters of water. The water collected in it comes from Pediaios river. The Tamassos Lake was constructed to enrich the area's underground aquifer and in addition, to limit the rapid descent of the river towards Nicosia.

It is stocked with various species of fish and recreational fishing is permitted. The following species of fish are found in Tamassos Artificial Lake: sea bass, mosquitofish, sunfish, carp, redfin, goldfish, lobster, catfish and tilapia.
