Spanish poet and playwright Federico Garcia Lorca played a vital role in shaping modern Spanish literature. As a member of Generación del 27 (The Generation of '27), an influential group of poets from within Spanish literary circles, Lorca helped reinvent Spanish prose.

For more on Lorca and the role he played in shaping modern Spanish literature, we speak to Leslie Stainton. Stainton is the author of 'Lorca: A dream of Life', a biography which intricately dissects the poet's life and works.

Wow to talk about the life of Lorca and not even mention that he was gay, they were oppressed and persecuted under the Franco regime, and probably it was 1 of the mayor reasons why he was executed at 38 yrs old and his body never found.... Also: Federico Garcia & Salvador Dali were not just collogues, they were lovers

I'm not sure it is accurate to say his poetry is not political, there is just a life in it that overcomes politics.
