Here’s some tips for stacking cake layers for tiered cakes:
💜 Choose a baseboard 4” larger than the largest tier
💜 Use baking strips for flat layers, or trim “doming” off layers to achieve flat layers
💜 Use a double buttercream border with star tip to lock in filling
💜 Do NOT add too much filling. This can cause leakage
💜 Press down layers gently after each stack to push air out between layers
💜 For smaller tiers, use a thin board slightly smaller than the size of your layers so it doesn’t show
💜 Precut a hole in the boards of smaller tiers to accommodate a central dowel
