This technique works perfect. Watched this video because of a plugged up SeaLand toilet. Bought a 1/4" x 4' square dowel at a hardware store for $2. Wrapped a plastic garbage bag around the end of the dowel so I could save it in case it was needed again. Turned the water off and poked the dowel through the plugged sewage. When it began to break up, I turned the water on and flushed. The sewage that remained I poked while the water was running, and it washed down the line. Unlike the video, I didn't use any chemicals.

Two things I learned:
1. Don’t put ANY toilet tissue in the SeaLand toilet. That is what caused my plug-up. I used tissue sparingly, but it was enough to cause problems. Put toilet tissue in the garbage.

2. Use plenty of water everytime you flush solids. This ensure all the solids are flushed through the line, and no build-up can occur. Flushing a SeaLand toilet is not the place to save water.

Toilet has worked perfect since clearing the plug-up.

Heck yes!!! I thought something serious was wrong with my plumbing, just turns out it was clogged AF. I hooked up to fresh water for the first time after having used it dry for several months. When the toilet filled with water, it suddenly stopped draining... I used a sturdy poking stick and pushed the clog down far enough to where I could at least see bottom and confirm nothing was wrong, just full of compacted poo and tp. The enzyme pack was able to do its job so now my next waste station visit should go better. Thank you for sharing!

Excellent video. I also put in a bunch of dawn dishwasher detergent with hot water and have been known to dump some ice in. After filling the black tank up I drive around a bit and then find a dump station. I don’t do this often but if I even think a problem may be starting I jump on it. Good job! This can be a real mess.

Great video. Very useful. I turned the pump off but don’t think to use thee sinks and shower to drain residual water. Now the toilet is flushing into thee cleared black tank and the next treatment package has been dissolved and introduced into it. Thank you for sharing your knowledge. 🙏

One of the “swizzle sticks” that hook up to a hose is great for putting down the toilet. But the black tank rinse is a lifesaver. My granddaughter clogged hers with way too much regular TP and it took me about 5 hours to clear it out. We never put TP in ours.

You can also use a 4'-5' length of hose, turn off the water, put gloves on, cover the hole on the end of the hose with your thumb, and push the length of hose down into the toilet (hose is a bit more flexible in case you have a bend in the drain) until you feel where the sludge has accumulated and then stir it around until it breaks up and goes down the drain. I just had this happen in my RV. This can be prevented by keeping your black (and grey) tank closed and using MORE water when you flush, let the waste accumulate in the black tank until about 2/3 to 3/4 full, (it helps to use an RV toilet enzyme treatment to break down the solids and take care of any smell), after the sludge has released in the toilet, turn the water back on to thoroughly rinse the toilet drain, open the black tank release and let it go down the sewer, close the black tank, then open the gray tank to flush the sewer hose, then close them back up and let them refill. We tend to try and preserve water when not hooked to a source, but this is one area where it's important to flush with enough water. If the black tank release is left open, the water rushes out leaving the solid waste behind where it can accumulate, compact, and plug the toilet.
