I go in for revision for failed recalled implant next week. I had Reverse shoulder replacement on both shoulders last year and Anterior hip replacement last August. I have fantastic retired Air Force Orthopedic surgeons. If not for them Id be bedridden. All successful except the knee done somewhere else and it was the implant manufacturers fault, not the doctors. Thank God For Orthopedic Surgeons!

A excellent and informative video, thank you. I had a total hip revision done 10 weeks ago due to a very large and nasty abscess which developed over my joint replacement scar. I am doing very well but had one or two questions which were answered in this presentation. Sending greetings from Scotland

Went through knee replacement surgery in Feb. Now the ortho surgeon says the implant has "slippage." I would never get another surgery to have the implant ripped out and another installed. Hell no! Pain, swelling and stiffness have made me rethink the whole idea of knee replacement surgery. I'm not getting the left knee done----"Don't touch me!" I'm getting a mobility scooter.

First left hip surgery was June 2021. At the beginning of 2022, I having trouble walking and ended up in a wheelchair. In February of 2023, I entered a hospital in San Diego for the first revision. (the femur did not adhere to the implant). The incision dehis and there was an infection. Second surgery 2 weeks post op and this second surgery went really bad. Infection was terrible. The surgeon removed the metal parts from the first surgery, did an D and I and inserted another set of metal parts. Infection continued and third surgery was necessary. In the third surgery temporary parts and spacers were inserted.

I am now six months out and started to have some pain in thigh.

Is the normal procedure to replace with temporary spacers on the second revision or the third? And I have had scans and show no sign of infection or inflammation in my body.

I'm terrified of having another surgery!!

I came across this video, trying to search out information.. I'm 50 yrs old, had a left TKR in 2015. I had issues with my knee freezing up in the beginning due to me keeping it on a pillow ( totally my fault) was able to get full range with PT. But right under my knee by my tibial I always had bad burning pain, also I was always swelling up in that area sometimes like a balloon. Asked my orthopedic about it, he said it was just a fat deposit.. But I never understood why If I walked on uneven ground, gravel stairs it would blow up even more.. just figured we'll this is my new normal. Fast forward to Feb 13 2024, woke up with severe pain in my left knee/leg so bad it felt like I was newly post op.. went to the ER due to the pain, tested for blood clots and next day at my orthopedics office had an aspersion done. Both test normal, but my inflammatory markers were very high. Within 2-3 days all my joints in my body was hurting. I was sent to a RA specialist, plus sent to a joint -orthopedic specialist for 2nd opinion. My bone scan showed I have losing and also a 10/11 % malformation in my replacement. So I was told I was going to need a revision. My confusion and worry is why & what caused the other joints in my body to hurt so bad? I was placed on high doses of sterioids, that helped my joints but not my left knee.. that's still very swollen, still very painful and burning in my tibial bone area. Ive asked if I could be allergic to something in my component is there a allergy test but I get looked at like I'm crazy. Also I want to add my skin on areas on my body, arms and back and left leg I feel like someone's rubbed bengay or something it's a very cold/burn feeling and that's on different areas on my body. I know this is alot I hope someone can help maybe give me insight.

Yes, I've had knee surgery almost 2 years ago twice.I think it's too big.I've gone to several doctors right now.I have The Wire in my back for the pain in the nurse, but it's not working. It's my knee, my right knee.I think that the hardware's too big.Everybody says it's not the pain severe.I need somebody that will go in open it up and tell me what's wrong with it

I’ve heard there is a “stiffness feeling” component after using a longer revision femoral stem replacement. I have had two hip replacements in the same leg, both with primary stems used, the last one longer than the other, both loosening after a year. I’m 67 and an active tennis player

45% of knee replacements are considered failures according to the patients. I'm left unable to work, needing a cane to walk and I'm in near constant pain - there's not a chance I'd let more doctors ruin what's left of my life by operating again.

I had a unicompartmental implant in May of 2023 and one night I had a violent kicking episode of RLS and I was awakened by a very intense knee pain and now X-rays reveal a misplaced implant and a TKR is to be scheduled.
Obviously when the partial knee implant was done, part of the tibial plateau was cut to accommodate the implant and now I wonder what the outcome will be with a TKR? What can I expect? Potential problems?

Fractured femur and had THR Sept 5. Then dislocated that was told blew out back Oct 10. Along with revision Dr said the THR was at wrong degree. Now revision posterior. Popped out late Oct so I wore a brace to keep hip heal properly. Last Sunday popped out again 8 days ago. Now Dr states I need another Revision with a longer, which will need bone depth.
I am very concerned. Can something be done added so ball doesn’t pop out again ?

. i’ve had a broken femur, a missed labrum tear, fluid removal twice 50CC first time and more than 50CC Second time two hip revisions working on my third as of April 8 this year I’ve had multiple fractures due to improper placement of hardware. I’ve had 13 screws and a plate, put on the hip in order to pull it back together after the first surgeon fractured my hip socket so now that it’s trauma surgery and not just hip revision my next surgeon is a trauma surgeon and in the theater this time we will have a vascular surgeon, a prosthetic surgeon, and then Dr.Thackrel the trauma surgeon hip socket has shifted forward, causing me excruciating pain and I feel that I’ve got fluid on my hip again. This is been going on for nine years going on 10 years. I’m not sure how this discussing my problem with you guys will help but maybe it will help me with more understanding of why this is happened multiple times and how all the mishaps such as the labrum tear fractured hip socket and products not working properly

Have you seen an implant fall in your hand when doing a revision? Surgeon during revision said, no growth had adhered to my previous replacement. Do you have a suggestion what would be the cause of that?
