Long-term continuous acoustical suspended-sediment measurements in rivers - theory, evaluation, and results from 17 stations on six rivers: David Topping, USGS. Presented at Virtual Nortek Day on March 17, 2021.

David Topping presents hiss two-frequency method for making acoustical measurements of suspended-silt-and-clay concentration, suspended-sand concentration, and suspended-sand median grain size, which he first published with Scott Wright in 2016. To date, this method has been used at 17 USGS gaging stations on six rivers in the United States.

David has conducted sediment-transport research at the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) since 1993, with an emphasis on suspended sediment in rivers with large ranges in suspended-sediment concentration and grain size.

About us:

Nortek designs, develops and manufactures acoustic underwater sensors that are used to measure motion in the marine environment. Our objective is to excite users with relevant and future-proof solutions that are underpinned by the latest ocean technology!
