My general method for these is to solve top row and left column together first, then solve second row and second from left together, etc. This gives you lots of flexibility to solve the long sequences and the remaining squares to solve get smaller and smaller.

I had a couple of these when I was a kid and I loved playig with them. I was about 8. Once you got the hang of it, it was pretty easy to resolve.

I did this in 3x3 which is to arrange numbers from 1 to 8. And it only took me 2 seconds
