Retirement is cool, and I’m retired, I’m just not doing it how everyone else is. I’m not at home watching tv all day, and all the stuff.

1. You Still need to work
- Work is an activity that gives purpose and fulfillment
- It has nothing to do with money
- But imagine being retired and spending 16 hours of your waking life doing nothing ( that’s not good )
Some examples of work
- Participating in your church
- Playing golf
- Training chess
- Reading
- Building better relationships
- Working on a garden
The point is Free time is good but you’ll also need some work to occupy your mind
- I know people who finally reach retirement and just spend their time
- Still working for money
- Doing something they don’t care about, just to because

2. You can’t do everything you want ( but you should know this )
- Everyone has limits, even billionaires
- So people who retire also have limits
- And trespassing those limits results in consequences
Self-Retired Person ( F.I.R.E)
- You work hard and retire early
- Then you go crazy and want to spend
- If a lottery ticket winner can have 100Million today and in 5 years 0
- So can you
- But this rarely happens, because these people that retire early by working hard, already have a bunch of habits
What I’ve learned is this:
- Know what the important things are to you
- And then focus on those
- To me it's important to have free time to practice chess right now
- I would like also a Tacoma truck, so I’ll be saving up maybe for 2 years who knows and I’ll be buying used maybe 2018 or 2020

3. People Judge
- People judged me on the way up, and also once I made it
- Some said it's not possible maybe in their in their minds
- And once I made it, and they see my frugal habits, they call me cheap and that I didn’t enjoy life
Heres the truth
- People are obsessed with how other people view them ( everyone cares including myself )
- But you cant let them or your internal emotions dictate your actions
- Honestly, you can lead a horse to water but you can't make it drink

4. You’ll Change…a lot
- You know how people get when they retire
- When they know they have a monthly check coming in
- And enough money to not have to worry about work
- They become more of who they are ( because they have the freedom to )

Some ways that I changed ( and that you may change too)
- I’ve become a lot more risk averse ( to make money you take risk, to keep money you control it )
- I’ve become a lot more boring, this is because I love repetition honestly and its also beucase I’ve tired a lot of things, and a lot of it is just gimmicks
- I’ve become a lot more family-oriented
Here is an example:
- You have a baby, and she is like 5-6 years old
- As mom you have him clean up with, throw clothes in the dryer and she even has her own knife that doesn’t cut well to help with cooking
- And as a dad you take her to work, to the park and so on
- But them your friends tell you, you should take her to Disney ( do you think they can tell the difference and the enjoyment is different ?)

5. Social Life changes a lot
- a lot of people spend 8 hours a day at work
- those are going to be your friends for the most part
- when you don’t have a job you have to make new ones
I’ve lost friends in 3 ways
- moving from place to place
- Thinking differently about money
- And becoming a Christian

What I have discovered is:
- My close relationshops are going to be with family
- And with friends, you don’t need quantity just quality
- And you can meet new people ( they exist )

I set a goal to retire at 30, and I actually did it…..I feel you bro it’s an awkward conversation to have with your older peers to say the least. 😅

Retired, retirement, how can I define it?
Switching trades, prick up different gigs, finding new hobbies. Work smart and less on your own schedule, find something you love to do, it may never feel like work while making money. YouTube is your 401K buddy.
PS. Mark Cuban retired after making his first 5 million dollars, then came back 5 years later after retirement step to the pedals now worth billions. 🤔
