After Effects CS6: Duplicate nested comps

In this quick video we show one way of duplicating compositions that contain nested precomps so that also the precomps become independent. There are other ways of doing this as well, but this simple technique doesn't require any 3rd party tools. If your project is very complicated, you can first save a temporary copy and use the "reduce project" command to eliminate all other comps besides the ones you need to duplicate.

This was exactly what I was looking for! I can't believe that After Effects still doesn't have the ability to do this inside the program. "Duplicate with unique comps" would be such a useful feature.

Adobe builds high tech heat seeking rocket launchers and doesn't provide triggers to launch the rockets. You have to use match sticks to fire the rockets.
