They've gone from fighting vampiric robo-Knights and a plague of all-consuming insects to fighting vampiric religious zealots and a plague of all-consuming cyborg bugs. Not much of an improvement on their previous situation.

OMG OMG. Lemme get this straight. Are these the VAULTERS that escaped AURIGA from Endless Legend??? It has to be right? The Auriga we find in-game is an ice planet. Connecting the games together and expanding the lore is thumbs up imo.

Fun fact, the ring around the Vaulter ship is a Torus Warp Ring/Drive (AKA, "Alcubierre drive").
Considering the theories around such rings, it'd explain why Vaulter ships are actually able to warp around their empire much more quickly than other empires' ships. The problem is, it's also theorized that you'd need at least two rings to keep the ship intact during a jump *and* the force created by both rings could destroy a planet if the ship were to decelerate while facing a planet (no idea how much space is actually needed to decelerate without destroying something somewhere).
As no planet (or anything else) is destroyed upon a Vaulters' ship arrival, one can guess that the deceleration issue was figured out. But there's also the issue how much energy is actually required to meet such speeds through space.
