In this video I discuss the highest point of natural elevation, be it the highest mountain, hill, or otherwise, in each South American country. This vast continent of many geographic extremes might be the most intriguing Highest Points episode yet. Don't forget to subscribe if you enjoy it, and thanks for watching!

Make sure to subscribe if you enjoyed - I know a lot of people just watch their go-to channels from their recommended page these days (I'm guilty of it too!) but subscribing seriously goes a long way to help the channel. Thanks a lot!!

There is nothing better to look at than an "assortment of Andian apexes". Big like as always! I also love it that you included some territories that would otherwise fit into none of the videos. These remote places are often interesting and strikingly beautiful!

The highest point of every brazilian state would be a cool addition to this video.

This video was the high point of my day!

Also interesting to see some incredibly obscure high points up in the North and off the continent. Maybe this video will inspire some brave people to summit them!

Crazy how many similarly high mountains there are spread across such a long mountain range in the Andes. thousands of kilometers apart you can find a crazy high peak in all the countries that include a part of the Andes. I say that as a European, for whom 4810m of elevation are already pretty extreme and who suffered through the climb to the summit of 3700m high Pico del Teide (admittedly only from the cable car station at around 3550m) without any acclimatisation. The Andes are truly gigantic (and so beautiful with the combination of volcanic landscapes, classic alpine regions, coastal mountains, deserts, and tropical parts!).

Chimborazo 😍 the coolest mountain on earth with the coolest title. Thank you for these videos, not easy to make them.

Watching this on the bus while looking at the Aconcagua out the window is a satisfying feeling

Hello! Great video as always, do you have a list for the most prominent mountains in the world? i tried searching for it myself but couldnt find it.

Well researched video. I've done tons of research on the Andes and well over half my fun facts on the peaks in question were already included. One that wasn't: Chile's high point is the second summit of Ojos Del Salado. With only 85m topographic prominence, it's one of only two country high points above 1500m with insufficient prominence to qualify as a separate mountain under most accepted definitions. The other being Mafadi, the highest point in South Africa, which is usually listed as having around 110m (75m according to my GPS, but those aren't accurate enough for a measurement like this). This holds even if a requirement of 7% prominence relative to height is required, which both peaks are well below, so these two summits aren't even close compared to the other country high points above 1500m in terms of prominence.

That was interesting! Amazing how so many of Canada's various highest peaks are actually not accessible, except by air, I guess, for photography/filming purposes!

Another fun fact: The west ridge of Ojos del Salado is the highest elevation ever reached by a land vehicle at 6734m

TresKandu is probably most challenging hill I ever hiked/climbed up. Very steap, many spiders, narrow trail, and a long way to even get there from the nearest save to reach parking spot. I suggest to rent one of those cow wagons of the locals to get to the start of the climb.

Cool video and helps to see pics of the mountains! Fun fact Pico da Bandeira in eastern Brazil was believed to be the country's highest until the 60s or 70s; goes to show how inaccessible the Guiana Highlands and the Amazon are.

For Spanish (and Portuguese) stress the second-to-last syllable if it ends in a vowel (**jalapeño**) or -s (**maracas**). If there's an accent, stress it instead (**adiós**).

So **Bolívar** is closer to **boh-LEE-var** in Spanish.

The Lake at the top of the Chilean one sounds awesome.

It's so interesting how little is known about a few of these peaks! I guess with the remoteness/inaccessibility it makes sense. People are honestly so impressive for exploring and summiting these crazy places though

I have to ask. Do you plan on doing high point videos for North America and Oceania?
