Tilta Nucleus Nano | Moza iFocus | PDMOVIE Live Air | Wireless Follow Focus Roundup |

After some deliberation I decided to go ahead and buy the Moza iFocus, Tilta Nucleus N and PDMovie Live Air and put them to the test. I also have the Ronin S Focus Motor, but I realized it doesn't actually have a wireless transmission so I ruled it out.

Thanks for the review. I just got my Moza Air 2 today and it came with the older iFocus for the gimbal. I was considering buying the external unit you reviewed for other applications that are not just for the gimbal, your review has solidified my choice. I’m gonna get the Moza.

Hello, thanks for this video, it has helped me a lot, but I have a question, having the Moza Air 2, is it possible to use the iFocus without the wireless control and only using the handle of the moza air 2?

Thanks a lot!

So what I got out of this is:
IF one has a power solution above 10 volts the Nucleus Nano is the preferred choice, but currently the only power option at this voltage is a D Tap (AKA big batteries). Thus if one wants a small lagless system then currently the Moza iFocus is currently the only solution with out going more expensive.

This makes me think there is a market for someone to make a small battery solution for the Nano if it will solve the problems.

Thanks for this. I was looking at those 3 in particular. You helped me make up my mind! 😎

Thanks for the comparison. My conclusion was that the Tilta Nano was fine provided you used an external 12V battery pack for the motor, and probably also for the controller. You don't want a big battery sitting on the lens. Concerning the video itself, I would like to see more of the product in operation rather than your head talking (Sorry :-) Can you change the speed and range of focus, is fine focus possible, is it jerky etc.?

I believe it is expected for the battery indicator to jumps if you operate it. Does it jump when no action is done too?

good review. would be nice if you actually showed each unit on camera.

Thank you for this video, I'm currently deciding between the Nucleus and iFocus. Do you think one could simply use a USB battery with power delivery with the Nucleus? Power Delivery provides a higher voltage via USB, so if I got that right you wouldn't even need a d-tap cable, would you?

Hi. Oskar. I made some seamless follow focus rings for Tilta / Ronin-S, and I think they are better than the original ones. Would you like to try them? They are 3D printed and perfectly fit any lens as long as you get the perimeter data for me.

thank you for your review. i ask myself, why you do not just go to the supermarket and buy a cheap small powerbank like anker has, which you mount on the rod with cable ties?

Oskar - always enjoy your postings on YouTube - it appears that I and you came to similar conclusions when it comes to WiFi enabled follow-focus systems. What sold me on the Moza iFocus was its focus integration to the Moza Air 2 gimbal (which I plan to purchase later in 2019) while also providing the versatility of using the system off-gimbal with the BMPCC 4K or the ZCam E2 4K, mounted on a monopod or tripod. As you've posted some nice videos on the Meike 25mm and 16mm cinema lenses - do you have any "news" on when the 12, 35 and 50mm T2.2 lens will be available ? Earlier we heard June/July 2019 - but here it is almost August and their website still only shows the 25 and 16mm. Best from TEXAS USA.

Do you have smooth movements when focusing slowly and finely with the Moza ifocus or does the motor stutter? With my ifocus it is not possible to do slower focus movements, in the picture you can see clear jumps of the focus.

Do you know if the Nucleus Nano is compatible with the Moza Air 2?

I have this iFocus too and I'm about to return it. I have the Moza Air 2 as well. Does I need the thumb focus if I have the gimbal? Cause it the second one they sent me doesn't work either.

You should probably film yourself with a smaller aperture, your face is out of focus

Not sure which PD Air you are using but the PD Air 4 out preforms the Nucleus-M.
