I wouldn't be surprised, he is well mannered in general which is probably just how he was raised but I have noticed that out of all the members, Niki always makes a point to be polite and respectful!

Sticking chopsticks (forks) into a bowl of rice is considered very offensive because it is done as an offering to the deceased during funerals. This symbolizes death.
Also, although not in this video, passing food from chopstick to chopstick is offensive because it resembles a funeral ritual where the bones of the deceased are passed from person to person with chopsticks into an urn.

I’m not Japanese but I spent a 3 years in Japan on and off and now, it makes my soul SCREAM when people leave chop sticks or forks/spoons in food. I reached across a table at my sisters wedding and grabbed my grnadpas spoon out of his cake and put it down like Niki did and the whole table turned and looked at me like I was nuts. My grnadpa winked at me and apologized 😂 (he too has spent many years in Japan due to his second wife being Japanese). Now my family makes the joke “DONT LEAVE YOUR FORK IN THAT JAK WILL HAVE A FIT” 🥴
