Played on an @ElaiaHandpans Windflower 14 notes.

I was 2 years old when this song was released. When I was a teenager I listened to it on and on and I would never imagine that one day I would do a cover with an instrument built by myself! 😊

Some months ago I built my first "Windflower" sound model. When I first played it the first notes of "Nothing Else Matters" just naturally flew out of my hands. Oh, after all the times I listened to it, this song still gives me goosebumps.
"So close, no matter how far
couldn't be much more from the heart"

This is honestly the first time I hear someone play a recognizable melody on a handpan.

I was expecting a completely instrumental version of the song. Her singing was a pleasant surprise.

Was I the only one who was totally surprised when she started singing!?

I don't know English, so I used a translator. So I apologize for any mistakes.
I'm 50 years old. In my youth Metallica music had such strong emotions on me that tears flowed. And suddenly YouTube made such a gift for me. Your performance is magic! Thank you Mumi, you melted my heart!

Sometimes YouTube hits a home run with their recommendations, like this video for instance. Spectacular!

I’m a handpan player — well no, after seeing this — handpan owner myself. 😁
What a lot of people probably miss are the subtleties on display here. The player is very advanced and she makes it look easy. She gets tones from her instrument that aren‘t normally there (overtones). Try playing a melody and sing something else to it. That‘s difficult on any instrument. But on the handpan the notes aren‘t in a row. They‘re scattered all over the instrument, so you also need a „map“ of the pan to hit the right notes, with some on the bottom where you can‘t see what you‘re hitting. I could go on with this for a while, also mentioning the high production quality of this clip. But then I‘d rather just enjoy the good music and be inspired. 😊

I don't know why, but I wasn't expecting her to sing, and when she started, it blew me away. Amazing job.

Damn… Im a huge Metallica fan… and I’ve heard tons of different versions of this… but this is by far the best cover I’ve heard!

She starts playing and I think "hmm, this is a pleasant instrumental cover." Then she starts singing and I think "OH! Well that just kicked it up several notches." I would never have thought of covering this song with a handpan but it really works!

Just imagine all the talent the world has missed pre-internet. She's incredible.

I can’t believe how people are capable of creating something so beautiful and ethereal while I keep pulling the door when it says ‘“push”

Well, like everybody else “I wasn’t expecting that”.

As a metalhead I can say that even though this isn’t the full metal, you’ve got to have the slow parts in with the fast parts so you can appreciate them both. It’s originally a metal song and is being played on metal. I gonna go out on a limb and call it metal.
