If you know someone that does drilling for wells, heat pumps, dynamiting, or the like, or, your friendly Caterpillar dealer (where they sell heavy machinery that uses hydraulics) you should be able to buy sacks of absorbent granules. I use this and a bag will absorb amazing amounts of oil, paint, water, and other liquids that get spilled on the floor. Works great! Hey, I'm off to your next video!

it's coming along nicely. You need some spill absorbent to deal with that oil, it won't dry on it's own but it might drain thru the concrete in time. You'll probably need about 2 or 3 bags. You can make your own with fine saw dust and sand mix (about 50/50  depending how fine the saw dust is, I'm not talking powder like but anything from the sawmill from cutting boards will do), the commercial stuff is better though, it's a mix of sand with small paper balls made out of the same material as the ink absorbing pads, usually you find them at truck stops.

You have a "real" workshop floor at last.
Now you have christened it, you wont feel bad about a few spilt drops.
I'm with RJ below, mesh should be good enough. If you use wire again, without knowing how tightly to space it, you could block the oil too much

Haha! I had a spill just like that last week...thought I could take the cap off slow Oh well, I used cat litter to clean it up, I think it works better than wood dust, because fine wood dust + oil can make a sticky paste which is also hard to clean up.

could you have syphoned the oil out or sucked it out using a giant syringe? - motor mechanics use them.
Dry sawdust, fine woodshavings or cat litter works pretty well to soak up oil as well. At a push very dry sand (kiln-dried is best) but then you should dispose of it carefully and avoid contamination of any part of your lathe. Oily wood materials can of course be burnt to dispose of them in the correct environmental circumstances.
Your video in the workshop is excellent but in the vehicle it is focused on the dashboard - windscreen mount would help.

Love your videos, but please, please use a tripod. The camera going back and forth is incredibly disorienting.

The oil can be cleaned up with regular cat litter. Just spread it out leave it over night, give it time to suck up the oil.

You can make filter padding from different material than it was before. Maybe fine wire brass mesh would be ok.

To dry the oil from the floor you can use some fine wood shavings.
