Man, you are a life saver !!!
I was on Safari (just doing the usual) when a notice came up, saying that my sistem had just been infected... Instead of clicking on the notice (you never know, MacKeeper has the same notices… And other programs could too), I quit Safari, then searched for videos like this one. I didn't find it immediately, but it was DEFINITELY worth looking that hard. Thank you so much, and if anything will happen in the future, I'll come back to this page :)
It found two "Adware".
It's fantastic, when you think about it, how this works. It's even better when it finished well for you x)

I used a few antivirus programs and found 1 item. Finally settled in with Sophos. It updates and scans without bothering me like some others do.

Brennan, your instruction on how to use and locate Bitdefender was very helpful. I had 7 viruses and deleted them, without your help I would not have known of these viruses. Thanks a bunch!

Just finished a deep system scan and found no viruses or malware. It took about 27min to scan. Not bad. Thanks for the tip!

Tell me if you found any viruses on your Mac. So far I haven't found any on my MacBook.

Thank you! I've been wanting to do this for quite some time and never could really figure out where to start. I did this using BitDefender and found 8, all windows viruses. I made the mistake of having my external plugged in at the time I did my scan and it got hung up (8+hours of not advancing) in the external drive, so I stopped it. But I will go back and have it scan the back up external drive I use another time.

Thank you so much! I panicked when I saw "El Capitan" has infected your computer in a huge popup that took up my whole iMac screen. WHAT IS THAT ABOUT?! I ran bit defender and it says it's clean. I did a deep scan with full access. Should I be confident? I just ran the free version. Thanks, again!!!

Im running it trough my hard drive right now. Its taking hella lot of time, but so far spigot's the only thing I've found. Which is a relief.. :)

16 viruses! Bitdefender is telling me I need the removal tool to get rid of these viruses, but the "tool" I downloaded just scanned my computer and said "none of the monitored adware found" ....help....

just finished the deep scan and it found and removed 1 virus. It was in my DROPBOX folder

Actually, you will most likely never run into a virus in a Mac, but you will come across adware. In my case I have adware on my Mac and when I use bitdefender it finds the files but then prompts me to download the free removal program. When I do, I try to remove but it does not actually remove any of it. Not sure why...

I added the app and had 1 virus deleted by it. I took a screenshot but youtube does not let me attach photos to messages. I checked out your video because the last 2 days I have been getting strange pop ups.

I use this and found like 20 viruses on my laptop. And I like that app because it DELETES it FOR YOU

Thanks for the tip about Bitdefender...adware/malware was driving me crazy!  The first time I ran this, it didn't work -- because I forgot to click the UPDATE button.  Once I clicked the UPDATE, it quickly found and removed genio.a and I am back in business!  THANKS!!

thanks for great video, found 67 virus, most of them were re directors / proxy malware and 4 Torgens. The AV manged to fix 43 of them then i tried Symantec with found a further 57 but manage to deal with all of them. i will be careful in downloading any old program for testing as i believe it came from them.
