Columbus Museum of Art Expansion

As the community and the world change, the Museum must keep pace. The Art Matters expansion is our way of keeping pace by transforming our Museum into a twenty-first century experience that fosters creativity. Our vision, created with your input, is to foster a dynamic visitor experience built around a world-class collection, which places CMA at the vanguard of a new movement among art museums that focuses not only on art, but also on visitors and their experiences with art and with each other.

This is the new wing is the final phase in our three-part expansion will includes the new 50,000-square-foot wing for expanded gallery and specials exhibition space, as well as, a new restaurant, sculpture garden, Museum Store, unique meeting and special events space, and a new entry experience.

This is the last phase in a three-part renovation and expansion. The 50, 000-square-foot new wing will complement the museum's 1931 Beaux Arts building.

That was the Corcoran Gallery in Washington DC. The Contemporary Arts Center in Cincinnati showed the exhibition but the director was arrested for it, and acquitted. See the XYZ Portfolio at LACMA now.

The project seems different from what the actual Museum is : will the latter be demolished for a totally new one more appropriate and bigger ???…

Then again was it not the Museum of Columbus that censored a Mapplethorpe exhibition ? …
