Given the threat of emerging commercial entities and the possibility of new policies, it it will be interesting to see how successfully, the sharing economy sticks to its aims to create fairer, more sustainable, and more socially connected societies. If it can endure the forthcoming challenges, then the sharing economy will continue to radically reduce resource consumption, bridge the gap between cultures and serve as an viable alternative to capitalist trends. What’s so exciting is that it is only the beginning of the sharing economy, and yet we are already seeing transformational social and economic change.

Financial exchange is very new, humanity largely has been part of a sharing economy. It is so much healthier and brings much happiness to people to be part of caring and sharing with one another. We are actually physiologically designed for caring for one another, when people show genuine compassion to others we produce extra dopamine the mood promoting neurotransmitter in our brains. I have people over all the time for vegan dinners, and have a community picnic once year with all complimentary vegan food and nice gifts. Potlucks are a super form of sharing too. I also receive much help from others too, it works 5050, give and receive.

Lots of touchy-feely platitudes about community, but where is the substance? It's still hard to get one's head around what the sharing economy is, and how to tap into it and get this economic freedom and sense of connectedness they're all talking about.

The real deal is not relying on your tax money, money from government funded charity organization and money donation from people is the real sustainable movement: unlike some of these models under "sharing economy" that rent something in exchange for your money is just another profitable form of capitalism in disguise. Before supporting them, research who they used to start their business. Some can be exploitative to their volunteers, and the present system.

Sharing economy is due to rising costs and stupid hiring policies. Restaurants pay low wages but require experience and knowledge. Why not simply sell your skill direct to consumer to pay off your mortgage?
Cars now cost $350 a month plus $200 for insurance. Uber helps pay that down quicker, while you get "experience" in customer service.
