Drawing is a skill that most people wish they could do but they immediately put themselves in the category of "Oh, I could never do that." I want to take this time and welcome you to my channel: Draw Sessions.

I've been drawing all my life and have had the privilege of working both for AAA game studios and also movies. I have taught foundation drawing at the University of Cincinnati and it's time now to give back. I understand the frustrations of learning art in general but specifically, drawing. My channel is dedicated in helping absolute beginners, intermediate artists, and industry veterans - all wanting to improve their drawing skills. I have been in a huge art block for about 6 years now, stuck in a same style, stuck in the same art journal that has changed art style because I never knew what I wanted and what I actually wanted to draw. seeing inspiration from other people but never got to see how I would feel to draw it. I think now watching your videos, I have always been into monsters, dark life and even wanting to be a tattoo artist and draw humanoids on people and even myself. I will continue to truly work hard to get there and thank you for bringing that inspiration back to my life. I am tired of living in the dark while I watch others draw what i’ve always wanted myself.

Great video, Bobby! 🔥🤘

In my case, when I don't know what to draw I just go to practice my fundamentals skills, especially anatomy.

In addition, the two major things that help me a lot nowadays with my art block are physical exercises (long walks and running) and listening to music (extreme metal, black metal, death metal, etc). When I do both of these activities I always come back with some good ideas and I feel inspired to create something.

I’ll sit and watch your videos while I’m drawing for hours and it keeps my mind busy to avoid that creative block

The great thing about this channel is that it naturally directs you to start practising (in my case sculpting).

Something that helped me was drawing enormous thumbnail sketches that covered the whole page.

Bobby, i just wanted to really thank you for helping me sketch again..ive always been a keen and not too shabby artist but discovering your vids and mellow voice and informed lessons made me pick up a pencil again..im now drawing horrifying and freaky creatures, demons and terryfying angels...YOU'RE THE MAN BOBBY....oh, and i find music really can promote thoughts and ideas when it comes to mental block..space rock, like Hawkwind is great to get the vibes flowing again...thanks again mate.

Your channel, in particular, has been great. Helped me find the joy in the process of drawing, something that I'd lost many years ago.

If I had to pick one thing, probably your running commentary on design considerations was key. I've always been good at drawing but fell short when attempting to pull together coherent designs.

Thank you for this encouraging video Mr. Rebholz. I think I am currently dealing with Artist's block and a bit of soul searching is needed, though I am inclined to state that I like the actual pragmatism to draw cool things on paper rather than be infatuated with the idea of drawing cool things. I want to be an artist. The talent is there according to people with whom I have close relationships with but I lack proper foundation and that's what I have to also work on. Everything you upload is invaluable.

I think for me personally, when I seem to be getting artist block or what I like to call it is the Blank A4 paper feel in my head and not knowing what to print from my brain to the paper or tablet, I love to just doodle and that always seems to help a lot mostly because it can be so abstract in nature and you can create wihout being judged. The Youtuber Id have to credit fior this is the channel : Peter draws and that would have to be my 2 cents. I do appreciate your conent a lot to, I have definitely learnt to talk while drawing rather than trying to get a script ready to go. Thank You for that.

I get block every time I see a white page 😅.
What helps me get over the hump is focusing on basic shapes (like a circle for example) that I put on the page and then "grow" lines around it and let it evolve into whatever it needs to be.
Sometimes even a simple line or dot helps me a lot...

the two things that generally help me with artists block are switching styles to something I rarely draw in (generally when doing that I go for anime type styles since my normal drawing style is so alien from that) and just grabbing a pencil and a notebook and just doing some scribblng without thought

I really love your teachings on how to draw creatures and designing creatures you have opened my mind to new possibilities in my art work, but I still love to shade with a bending stump. Because I like the kind of tones I can get with a bending stump, and yes I do love my pen & ink to.
Well looking forward to a new video soon. I learned how to use a stump from Steven Zapata I like his work as well. Happy Drawing.

I remember about a year and a half ago, I felt stagnant. I kept practicing, and after a few months, I woke up one morning and had overcome that barrier. Timeskip months later, I'm stuck again... The weirdest thing about it was that the improvement didn't feel gradual at all. I just woke up months after what felt like practicing pointlessly, and I was just better.

You're videos help a lot with artist blocks. I will also look through Pintrest for ideas, copy old master drawings sometimes landscapes. or just getting out of my head looking around and drawing .

what helped me, was going on pintrest or artstation, and just draw oher peoples creations, draw what others have made not make anthing original first, and then after try something new, looking and drawing already made creatures and stuff makes me realise what im missing in my drawings and makes me like drawing more
