James Hetfield Signature JH Set Demo and Review

got these in my Snakebyte. They blew me away. Absolutely superb.
I used to be all about the Seymour JB/Jazz but now I like the Het set equally if not slightly more.
Outstanding.
They blow all other EMGs out of the water

@Thardus616 The guitar is in Drop C. Most of people buying the JH set will not be solely playing Metallica cover tunes...they will play their own music. If you want to see and hear them perform Metallica songs all you have to do is buy a ticket to see them when they play near you...James has them in just about every guitar he owns.

i got one, put it on my KH-2 and it's great, i mean the neck is so smooth sounding, and the bridge is so heavy and harsh, perfect metal pickup set

I have a set now residing in my trusty [bought new] 1985 Gibson Explorer. I was a DiMarzio guy for like FOREVER. I replaced the Steve Vai Universe set in this guitar for these. I was not expecting what I got in return. Clearer High gain tone. Searing harmonic content. The ability to turn down and get all the highs and none of the bummer... They are in there POYMANENTLY. Try to take em out and they will fight back. I am now EMG forever. Best 200.00 I ever spent. It literally WOKE my guitar up. GEAR? It had nothing to do with it. My tone is, and will always be in my hands. I just have more  Bob

Cant wait to get the ALNICO based set, 57 B with steel pole pieces and 66 N with ceramic pole pieces.

@Smit2k11 In steps:
1Remove or loosen you guitar strings
2Screw out the humbucker (4 screws in the corner first, take out the pickup and its ring, then loosen the last to screws
3Plug (if solderless, continue to 6) or clip (if soldered) off the humbucker from the wire
4Strip the 3 conductors in the wire
5Solder these wires to the 3 poles of your EMG 60 (find a schematic to know where to connect)
6Reattach new humbucker in reverse order as taking the old one out

@jdw2150 there are pickups that are humbucking that are single coil. look up the YJM Fury set. any seymore duncan stuff or emg stuff or dimarzio stuff is all good

@jdw2150 you could buy the set, put the bridge in the bridge, and then use the neck pickup for a bridge position in a different guitar. just like how some people switch 81/85 or 81/89 to 89/81 or 85/81 because they like the unique tone. i think thatd be an awesome thing to do :) and yeah dont get rid of ur stock pickups on ur SG that thing will be worth thousands soon!

You need to make a video or recorded playback with visual EQ waves comparing this pickup on a CLEAN setting (EQ @ noon) with all the other humbuckers (81, 85 etc.. and the X series too), so we can hear the character of the JH set.

If anyone has seen Keith Merrow's pickup comparison video knows what I'm talking about.

Is it just me or do all these ESP/LTD Les Paul style guitars do that heavily saturated tone extremely well. Of course the amp has a lot to do with it also, but I just feel like these types of guitars are a rhythm players dream. Plus the Hetfield pickups are awesome too
