Jacob & The Dazey Chain is the vision of Jacob Reese Thornton, a prolific 18 year old recording artist, songwriter, singer and guitarist, who brings a depth to his music that exceeds his years. Jacob has cultivated an impressive songwriting catalog for his age. “A great song feels familiar and yet different at the same time. There is a proven element, then something new is added that moves the composition in a more personal and original direction. The artists I admire mostly drew from their own influences to create something unique.” Jacob eagerly shares his musical process and the way he created his upcoming EP: “I like to play the field a bit and seek out different musicians I respect and admire, and work together on projects that create a synergy of sound. That is what the Dazey Chain means to me - a collection of creative musical synergies.”

In the Summer of 2020, Jacob & The Dazey Chain recorded the debut singles “Traces” and “The Sky is All I Need to Get High” with Grammy-nominated artist/producer Bill Reynolds from Band of Horses at his Fleetwood Shack studios in Nashville. Both songs were written and arranged by Jacob, with the tracks featuring B3 organ and keyboards by Rami Jaffee from the Foo Fighters. The tracks were mastered by Frank Arkwright at Abbey Road Studios in London (Oasis, The Smiths, Coldplay, The Killers, Joy Division).

Watch for “Jacob & The Dazey Chain,” the self-titled EP to be released in the first quarter of 2021. The EP’s debut single “Traces” speaks to universal hardships and the challenging times we currently live in, but with a message of hope for the future as this new era unfolds.

Here lie the traces
of things that a moment erases
locked inside
a victim of our times
round here it's toxic
and every word is catastrophic
serving time behind the traces of their crime

got my wings but i'm afraid to fly
too young to live, too young to die
push it to the point of no return
the bridges burn but I ain't concerned
It's amazing what can change in a day

in the heat of the moment
when love is just another opponent
who let you down again and you cant find a friend

its the sound of the glass breaking in your mind
then they're throwing rocks at things that shine
push it to the point of no return
the bridges burn but I ain't concerned
It's amazing what can change in a day

feel the heat as the ambers glow
ya grab the wheel and ya take control
remember all their faces though
the ashes and the traces that remain

its the sound of the glass breaking in your mind
then they're throwing rocks at things that shine
push it to the point of no return
the bridges burn but I ain't concerned
It's amazing what can change in a day

oh its amazing what can change in a day
